Module 9 vocab Flashcards
One (single) point injection
an artery and a vein at one location are used for injection and drainage
Split Injection
The injection is made in an artery at one location and the drainage occurs from a vein at another location
Multipoint Injection
vascular injection from two or more arteries
Restricted Cervical
both right and left common carotid arteries are raised; tubes are placed into each of the arteries and directed towards the head. A tube is inserted toward the trunk of the body, either in the right or left artery.
Instant tissue fixation
embalming technique that uses a very strong arterial solution (often waterless). The solution is injected under high pressure in spurts into a body area. Very little solution is injected; the technique attempts to limit swelling.
Alternate Drainage
method of injection-drainage in which embalming solution is injected and then injection is stopped while drainage is open.
Concurrent Drainage
method of drainage in which drainage occurs continuously during vascular (arterial) injection.
Intermittent Drainage
method of drainage in which the drainage is stopped at intervals while the injection continues.
