List the different types of aeronautical ratings.

A

There are two types of aeronautical ratings – basic and advanced. Only USAF commissioned officers are eligible for USAF aeronautical ratings. Officers who hold an aeronautical rating are referred to as “rated” officers. Below are the different types of aeronautical ratings:

  1. Pilot, Senior Pilot, Command Pilot.
  2. Navigator, Senior Navigator, Master Navigator (soon to be obsolete).
  3. Air Battle Manager, Senior Air Battle Manager, Master Air Battle Manager.
  4. Flight Surgeon, Senior Flight Surgeon, Chief Flight Surgeon.
  5. Observer, Senior Observer, Master Observer.
  6. Combat Systems Officer, Senior Combat Systems Officer, Master Combat Systems Officer.
