Factors influencing people towards and away from religion
contexts of a persons life, the experiences each person has in life and the world they live in.
WHAT ARE SOCIAL FACTORS?
Cultural (attitudes, lifestyles, traditions)
Historical (past events and their consequences)
Socio-economic status (disadvantage/hardship, wealth/power)
Political ideologies (secularist, anti-establishment, contrasting morals)
People (saints, leaders, celebrities, significant family/friends)

Social attitudes and philosophies that promote, marginalise or reject religion and/or religious matters; these can include, for example, some forms of secularism, militant atheism, and Christian humanism • Political ideologies and administrations; for instance in a theocracy or in a communist society
Religion
a complex of beliefs and practices, which point to a set of values and an understanding of the meaning of existence.
Christianity
is a religion with many denominations including Catholicism and baptist
Multiculturalism
the cultural and ethnic diversity in Australia
Pluralism
operates on the principles of acceptance and diversity
Secularism
the separation of church and state (government) such that there is freedom to be religious.
Secularisation

The principle that government must maintain an attitude of neutrality toward religion.

As a result, a state may have a relatively high level of interaction with religion and still be considered secular so long as the state does not interfere
