Two system of thinking is a fundamental concept in cognitive psychology that explain how human process information
System 1- Fast thinking
System 2- Slow thinking
The two system works together, white system 1 handling routine tasks and system 2 stepping in when a situation requires more careful thoughts.
Complementary Roles
psychological heuristic where people judge an experience largely based on how they felt at its most intense point
Peak-end rule
Cognitive bias where people judge the probability or frequency of an event based on how much it resembles or is representative of a typical case, rather that on actual statistical probability.
Representativeness heuristic
Cognitive bias where people rely too heavily on the first piece of information
Anchoring and Adjustment
prominent psychologist known for his groundbreaking research on facial expression and micro expressions
Paul Ekman
challenged the previously held belief that facial expression and their meanings were culturally specific.
Universal facial expression
Basic emotions Ekman identified six basic emotions
Happiness, sadness, anger, fear, surprise, disgust
involuntary facial expression that occur in response to emotion, they typically last only fraction of the a second, often as short as 1/25th of a second and are difficult to fake or conceal
MICRO EXPRESSION
the comprehensive tool categorizes every conceivable facial movement into
‘‘action units’’.
Facial Action Coding System (FACS)
complex psychological state that involve a variety of components, including subjective experience, physiological responses and expressive behaviors
Emotion and their feature
refer to the specific situation or events that triggers emotions. Typically involve an external event, an internal thought, or physiological change that leads to an emotion response.
Antecedent Condition
the process by which an individual evaluates and interprets the significance of that antecedents condition leading to the expression of an emotion.
Cognitive appraisal
the outward signs that convey what a person is feelings. These include facial expressions, body language, vocal tone and other non-verbal cues.
Emotional Expression
An emotion experience is the perception of bodily changes that occur in the response to an event
