What is a profession?
An occupation which requires practitioners to have extensive detailed knowledge and skills.
What is a self-regulating body?
Organizations for which the members govern themselves according to rules decided upon by those same members.
what are the goals of professional organizations?
To formulate high ethical standards for the practice of the profession and to lead the profession in adhering to these principles.
What does the oacett act outline?
The administration of the association. membership and registration. use of designations. and description of work.
What are by-laws?
laws with limited application that regulate how an organization can be operated.
What does the oacett administrative board do?
acts on behalf of council between regular council meetings. manages the organization’s finances. provides direction to the CEO and acts upon matter referred to it by council as required.
What does OACETT stand for?
Ontario association of certified engineering technicians and technologists.
What is the institute of engineering technology of Ontario? Now RPPC (Registration and Professional Practice Committee)
The board responsible for the certification of oacett members through setting certification standards. evaluating applications. administering the certification components including the professional practice exam and disciplining members.
What does PASB stand for?
The professional affairs and services board.
What does the professional affairs and services board do?
Implements policies with respect to member services provided by OACETT and works to promote the professional recognition of OACETT members with employers and within the engineering community as a whole.
What is oacett’s organizational structure?
27 chapters organized into 6 geographical regions.

What does licensure mean?
The process that professional organizations have for granting titles or designations to qualified applicants.
What is the scope of practice?
The roles and responsibilities fulfilled by professionals within that profession.

How is oacett primarily funded?
Annual membership dues.
Who are the affairs of OACETT governed by?
A council consisting of certified oacett members who are elected by the membership of the associated as well as external apointees.

Only those who are members of the organization with the right to the title and who meet that organizations requirements can use the title.
What are the two designations currently conferred by OACETT?
C.E.T. and C.Tech.
