Module 1: Lesson 3 Flashcards
What is 4th paradigm science?
a new method of pushing forward the frontiers of knowledge, enabled by new technologies for gathering, manipulating, analyzing, and displaying data.
What is another term for 4th paradigm science?
data science
What are different genome data reference resources?
raw data, genomes, annotated genomes, and genome products (genes, features, etc.)
What is the central dogma of bioinformatics and genomics?
genome –> transcriptome –> proteome
What are the three major public genome databases?
EMBL, GenBank, and DDBJ
What is an accession number?
a label that is used to identify a sequence. It is a string of letter and/or numbers that correspond to a molecular sequence.
What does GQuery integrate?
scientific literature, DNA and protein sequence databases, 3D protein structure data, population study data sets, and assemblies of complete genomes.
