Define sociology of health
Sociology of health: a branch of sociology that examines how society shapes and constrains health
Define health
Health: a state of complete physical mental and emotional health. Not just the absence of illness
What are the two models of health
- Biomedical model - assumes health is objective, intention is to cure, and health is the individuals responsibility
- Social model - assumes health is determined by many factors, its intention is to prevent illness, and believes that promoting health is a social responsibility
