Quick and easy Can treat/manage most diseases Allows for technical advances Improves quality of life Lengthens life expectancy
CONS OF THE BIOMEDICAL MODEL
Can be costly as it relies on funding for machines, training and workers etc.
Can be expensive for the patient and therefore less accessible
Not every condition can be treated
Doesn’t promote good health
PROS OF THE SOCIAL MODEL
Address the broader determinants and therefore reduces the incidence of more than one disease
Easily accessed
Cheap
CONS OF THE SOCIAL MODEL
Takes time to be effictive/show results
Can be frustrating, contributing to intangible costs
Cant be used on every disease
