arterial bleeding
As the name suggests, blood flow originating in an artery.
capillary bleeding
This occurs when capillaries are damaged and bleeding occurs.
hemorrhage
an escape of blood from a ruptured blood vessel, especially when profuse.
hemostatic dressing
such as QuikClot, is a wound dressing that contains an agent that promotes blood clotting.
tourniquet
a device for stopping the flow of blood through a vein or artery, typically by compressing a limb with a cord or tight bandage.
venous bleeding
involves blood that is returning to the heart, so there won’t be as much pressure as arterial bleeding.
abrasion
the process of scraping or wearing something away.
amputation
is the surgical removal of all or part of a limb or extremity such as an arm, leg, foot, hand, toe, or finger.
avulsion
the action of pulling or tearing away.
dressing
clean, treat, or apply a dressing to (a wound).
incision
a surgical cut made in skin or flesh.
laceration
a deep cut or tear in skin or flesh.
puncture
pierce with or as if with a pointed instrument or object puncture the skin with a needle
