10
Q

how do you calculate entropy by looking at the equation

A

if there is an increase in moles from reactants to products –> entropy increases
if there is a decrease in moles from reactants to products –> entropy decreases

note: if there are multiple states the production of gases increase entropy more

Q

what is an example of an equilibrium system

A

iron nitrate + potassium thiocyanate
iron nitrate is yellow and potassium thiocyanate is colourless. This produces potassium thiocyanate which is blood red.
