Q

M.2 what is it? main use? and how to use on pc?

A

It can be for sata ahci or nvme.

M.2 is a physical interface type.

Most machines now use m.2 nvme. Some only take take sata some take both. Depends on the keying usually.

M.2-based SSD
These are small form factor cards
that are installed directly into a motherboard or to an
adapter card

Main use - phones/tablets

Adapt to pc- PCI Express Mini Card physical card layout and connectors.

Note:
Be careful with M.2 drives. They create a lot of heat, and in a laptop’s tight
environment it could lead to overheating.

Q

Laptop hard drives can be accessed

from one of three places, what are they

A

1- from the bottom, either by removing
the entire bottom cover, or from an access panel
2-from underneath the keyboard.
3-from the side of the laptop where the drive is located
in some kind of caddy.

Note: last two options are
much less common

Optical Drives/Optical Disc Drive

Acronym and how it works

A

(ODD) uses laser light or electromagnetic waves within or near the visible light spectrum as part of the process of reading or writing data to or from optical discs.

23
Q

If the laptop can’t connect to the wireless network,

Whats the first thing to check?

A

try
pressing the Wi-Fi button, either associated with a
function key, or a stand-alone button near the
keyboard.

Common screens for laptops
LCD, LED, and | OLED
30
active-matrix flat panel | displays
each pixel of the screen is attached to a transistor and capacitor—each pixel maintains its state because it is driven by this circuitry.
31
GPU's on laptop locations
a separate Mini PCIe card. Usually, theseattach to the main board with two screws. GPU can also be integrated with the motherboard. In some cases, it is part of the chipset and utilizes RAM as shared video memory.
32
Laptop video screens require some work to replace. What does it involve basics
they have some kind of plastics involved such as | frames or bezels.
33
laptop | bezel
surrounding casing of an object. For example, the plastic edge around the screen on your monitor or TV
34
The screen might connect to the | main portion of the laptop via
power connector and | flex connector, or a combination connector
35
LCD cutoff | switch (also known as a lid switch).
switch or other mechanism designed to turn off the display when it is depressed or moved, meaning when the laptop is closed

37
Laptop power issues
Check connections(cables) Make sure the user uses the right power adapter (correct brand) Check the battery and voltage Check whether standby, sleep/suspend, or hibernate mode has failed Reconnect the Power button if it got disconnected (rare) Discharge the motherboard(rare) Check the AC outlet
38
troubleshooting laptop power issue
go through the entire power system step by step; including the power button, battery, DC jack, AC adapter, and AC outlet.
39

44
AHCI
Advanced Host Controller Interface
45
What is AHCI
AHCI is a new programming standard that defines a new mode of operation for SATA that adds two extra features; NCQ and hot-plugging.
46
NCQ
Native Command Queuing
47
What does NCQ do
Native Command Queuing is an extension of the Serial ATA protocol allowing hard disk drives to internally optimize the order in which received read and write commands are executed.
