Q

How is LCD different from OLED?

A

LCD uses a backlight to shine through liquid crystals and color filters to make an image. The backlight is always on, making true-blacks difficult and can be difficult to replace. It is lightweight, inexpensive, and consumes less power.

OLED has each pixel produce its own light when the electric current passes through the organic compound. It is even thinner and lighter than LCD, and offers great color accuracy (including true black) and viewing angles. It is more expensive and more susceptible to burn-in.
