A

Mixed UMN and LMN signs

  • Inspection - wasting, fasciculations
  • Tone - Increased or reduced
  • Reflexes - Increased or reduced. can have upgoing plantars
  • Sensation - Normal
  • Co-ordination - Normal
  • Also bulbar symptoms

A
  • To finish the exam i would like to do - Upper/lower limb exam and cranial nerves
  • By the bed - History, obs -
  • MRI to rule out other causes
  • Nerve conduction studies

  • Conservative - Education, refer to MND society. MDT approach - Physio and OT, palliative care,

Monitor Respiratory function

  • Medical - Riluzole, manage symptoms
