Where should you create a works cited page, and what format should it follow?
create a separate page at the end of the research paper. Should follow the same format as other papers. (double spaced, 1-inch margins, etc.)
For entries that are longer than 1 line, what should you do for the second and following lines of the entry?
If an entry is longer than one line, then you would indent the second lines of citations by 0.5 inches creating a hanging indent.
All the entries in the works cited page must correspond to to……
sources cited in your text. (Preferably following the same order)
When referring to a journal or a book, if the excerpt you are referring to covers many pages, what should you do?
you should use the abbreviation “pp” to refer to many pages and “p” for only one page.
What should you do to the first number of the page numbers you listed if they are similar?
if the pages numbers mentioned start similarly, the you would omit the first number. For example, (265-80),
How should you cite an article that was originally issued in print form, but you retrieved from an online database?
When citing an article that was originally issued in print format, you would type the online database in italics.
What is a DOI and where should it be placed in your citation?
A DOI stands for a digital object identifier, and it’s a code that contains a unique and permanent string of letters and numbers representing an article or document that will take you to that article wherever it is on the web. It is usually the last thing in your citation followed by a period.
How should you cite apps and databases?
Platforms of publication should only be cited if the work you are referencing is one of the many works of the app or database, and not a link that redirects you to another source.
If an author goes by multiple names, or pseudonyms, what name should you include in your citation?
The name that is generally known better or one that the author uses in that certain fictional story you are referencing should be used.
How should an annotated bibliography be formatted?
annotations should be added at the end of a source/entry with 1-inch indentations. Annotations usually do not exceed 1 paragraph.
Capitalization and Punctuation?
Capitalize each word in titles of articles, books, etc., but not articles (the, an) except if they come at the start of the title.
How should you cite larger works such as books and smaller works such as poems and articles?
Larger works= use italics
Smaller works= use quotation marks
