Mixed ANOVA Flashcards
1
Q
Why is a mixed ANOVA used?
A
Because within-participants ANOVA is great for power but some variables can be hard to manipulate and because of sequencing effects
2
Q
What kinds of factors does a mixed ANOVA have?
A
A between-participants factor and a within-participants factor
3
Q
What are some assumptions of mixed ANOVA?
A
- Normality
- Homogeneity for both factors
- Variance covariance matrix is the same at all levels of the within-participants design
- Compound symmetry for the within-participants design
4
Q
What is always crossed with the participant factor?
A
The levels of the repeated-measure factor
5
Q
What is the participant factor always nested under
A
The levels of the between-factor group
6
Q
How many error terms are there in a mixed ANOVA
A
Two
7
Q
What kind of error terms are used when following up a main effect in a mixed ANOVA?
A
Pooled for between-participants, separate for within-participants
