Mitosis Walkthrough Flashcards
What kind of things happening in Interphase?
the cell grows and increases the amount of subcellular structures. Duplicates DNA. DNA is copied and forms X-Shaped chromosomes.
What happens in prophase?
chromosomes condense, the membrane around the nucleus breaks down, chromosomes lie free in the cystoplasm.
What happens in Metaphase?
Chromosomes line up in the centre of the cell
What happens in anaphase?
Spindle Fibres pull chromosomes apart. Chromatids are pulled to opposite ends of the cell.
What happens in telophase?
Membranes form around each sets of chromosomes, becoming the nuclei of the two new cells, nucleus has now divided
What happens during cytokenesis?
the cystoplasm and cell membrane divide to form two seperate cells
Whats special about these daughter cells?
contain exactly the same sets of chromosomes in their nucleus.
