Mitosis And Meiosis Flashcards
How many times does the cell divide in meiosis?
Twice
How many times does a cell divide in mitosis
1
How many cells do you end up with in mitosis?
You end up with 2
List the stages of Mitosis in order.
Prophase, Metaphase, anaphase, and telophase
List the stages of meiosis in order.
(Meiosis I) prophase I, metaphase I, anaphase I, telophase I
(Meiosis II) prophase II, metaphase II, anaphase II, telophase II
Meiosis results in what type of cells?
They produce sex cells or in other words gametes
Mitosis does not produce what type of cell?
Sex cells or gametes
Mitoses’s form of reproduction is…
Asexual
Meioses’s form of reproduction is….
Sexual
Prophase (Mitosis)
Prophase is the first phase of mitosis. It duplicates the cell, including the nucleus and DNA of the cell.
Prometaphase (mitosis)
It’s the second stage in mitosis. During this stage nucleus’s barrier starts to break down .
Metaphase (mitosis)
The third stage of mitosis. The chromosomes align themselves in this stage to prepare for what is like a tug of war type battle.
Anaphase (mitosis)
The fourth stage of mitosis. This is when the chromosomes separate from each other and go to opposite side of the cell.
Telophase
The second to last stage of mitosis. Cell reforms around the chromosomes.
Cytokinesis (mitosis)
The final stage of mitosis. This is when you have two separate cells.
