Mitosis Flashcards
1
Q
Interphase
A
Chromosome are not visible
DNA replicates in preparation for cell division
2
Q
Prophase
A
2nd phase
- Chromatin condense and become visible
- Centrioles move to opposite ends of the cell wall
- Nuclear membrane breaks down
3
Q
Metaphase
A
3rd phase
- chromosomes line up at equator
4
Q
Anaphase
A
4th phase
- spindle fibres attach to centromere
- chromatids move to opposite poles
Now know as chromosomes again
5
Q
Telophase
A
5th phase
- new nuclear membrane forms
- chromosomes de-condense
6
Q
Cytokinesis
A
- cell splits and results in 2 daughter cells
