Mitochondria Flashcards
what is mitochondria?
Mitochondria carries out process of cellular respiration.
give me the chemical formula for cellular respiration.
ATP + 6Co2 + 6H2O
what does the mitochondria consist of?
- double membrane
-matrix fluid
-cristae is inner membrane
what dna can be used to find criminals?
mitochondrial dna
what is cristae used for?
it serves as a basis for enzyme systems and is responsible for cellular respiration
which ER has no ribosomes
agranular ER
which ER has ribosomes
granular ER
explain the systems of the ER?
-brings the cell contents in contact with the outside environment
-enlarges the internal surface of the cell
-acts as a internal transport system
-serves as a basis for attachment for the ribosomes
what are the functions of the golgi apparatus?
-associated with secretion in cell
-plays a role in the forming of other membrane systems
-processes changes and sorts proteins
-plays role in formation of lysosomes
where are plastids found?
in plant cells only
what are chromoplasts?
they do not contain chlorophyll they have cadet lids used for the coloring of plants and flowers
what are leucoplasts?
these reserve storage and have no pigment they store starch called amyoplasts
