TACAN
Tactical Air Navigation, airborne receiver, transponder designed to operate in conjunction with surface stations for navigation purposes.
INS
Intertial Navigation System, self contained, all weather, worldwide navigation system.
GPS
Global Positioning System, all weather postioning system that provides the NAV/COMM with a fixed position readout with 5 to 8 meters.
FMS
Flight Management System, allows the aircrew to use GPS as the primary means of navigation for required navigation performance area navigation operations.
UHF
Ultra High Frequency, 2 UHF radios
VHF
Very High Frequency, 2 HF radios
MINI-DAMA
Miniaturized Demand Assigned Multiple Access, a satellite communications system that supports the exchange of secure battle group coordination data, imagery data and voice comms.
IFF
Identification Friend or Foe, air traffic control radar beacon that reports codes Identification and altitude signals
Search Radar
principle airborne surveillance device for observing and detecting surface vessels, sub operations
ISAR
Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar, generates true recognizable two dimesional images of any selected ship target.
SAR
Synthetic Aperture Radar, uses aircraft movement to create two dimesional map like presentation.
