Mise-en-scene Flashcards
Staging
More than merely conveying diologue
Can communicate character and story
Everything everywhere all at once He’s looking at her while moving around trying to get her attention adn she is sitting still looking down at all the bills
At the end she is ditracted by the people in her life rather than the situations in her life
Using the staging itself to communicate the story
Constantly not looking, not seeing eachother, almost eery, also they are always on different planes throughout the film (one foreground and one background) only when one starts moving away is where the other one finally looks. The first time there’s actual contact was after ennis got attacked then it was little things like the push on the shoulder after a killing shot
The distance and lack of inticamacy between ennice and his wife grows and they start being consistently shot on different planes too, so when Jack came back, it was refreshing like a breath of fresh air
