A
All men 65 and over

If an AAA is detected on screening what is done ?
A
It depends on the size of the AAA:
- Small AAA: 3 to 4.4cm (1%) –Repeat scan yearly
- Medium AAA: 4.5 to 5.4cm (0.5%) –Repeat scan every 3 months
- Large AAA: 5.5cm or greater (0.1%) –Referral to vascular surgery to discuss options

List the people who are at high risk of CVD
A
- Established CVD
- Stage 3 or greater CKD/micro/macroalbuminuria
- Familial hypercholesterolaemia
- > 40 years old + DM
- <40 + DM and 20 years of disease duration/ target organ damage / elevated CVD RFs
- Asymptomatic individuals should be considered at high risk if they are assessed as having ≥ 20% risk of a first cardiovascular event within ten years (using ASSIGN)

- Aspirin and a statin

Used to screen people on their alcohol intake
- How often do you have 6 or more units on one occasion?
- How often during the last year have you been unable to remember what happened the night before because you have been drinking?
- How often in the last year have you failed to do what was normally expected of you because you had been drinking?
- In the last year, has a relative, friend, doctor or health worker been concerned about your drinking or suggested you cut down?
