What is a miracle?
An extraordinary and welcome event which is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore attributed to divine agency.
What does divine intervention mean?
God did it
Why would God perform miracles.
Because God is:
-benevolent (all loving)
-omnipotent (all powerfull)
-transcendent (not limited by natural or scientific laws)
-the creator
-omniscient (all seeing and all knowing)
-or any other attribute of god which can be explained
What’s are fixed laws of nature?
Laws that are infallible (cannot be changed) such as gravity, energy not being able to be destroyed or created, death and time.
How may a non- religious person disprove miracles.
-Fixed laws of nature
-physchological explanations ( power of expectation, placebo effect)
-spontaneous remission
-brain and body interaction
What is spontaneous remission?
When someone becomes healed from a disease without any reasoning or explanation.
What is a scriptural miracle?
A miracle that can be found in a holy book such as the Bible or Quran.
What is a non-scriptural miracle?
A miracle not found in a holy book.
examples of a scriptural miracles
- feeling of the five thousand
-Jesus raising the 12 year old girl
-calming of the storm
-Jesus’ virgin birth
Examples of non-scriptural miracles
- Dunkirk
- Annabelle Beam
Miracles in nature
Miracles that affect things such as the weather or ocean.
These miracles prove God and Jesus have power over nature.
