bleeding is minor and settling, no signs of compromise of mother or fetus

A
- FBC
- Kleihauer testing
- Group and save serum
- Coagulation screening - in suspected cases of abruption

Fetal management
A
- Ultrasound to establish fetal well being and confirm placental location
- Umbilical artery doppler measurement - function of placenta may be compromised by small abruption

Management of mother with APH after discharge
A
- High risk of APH thus increased surveillance of mother and feetus
