This wear is active.
There is exposed dentine on the buccal surfaces of her upper canines, upper first premolars and lower premolars.
Exposed dentine is sensitive when there is patency of the dentinal tubules (open tubules).
The pt’s pain/ sensitivity is in response to thermal and osmotic stimuli.
This stimuli is causing movement of dentinal fluid, leading to stimulation of the pulp. This is interpreted by the pulp as pain.
