What was Milgram’s aim?
He wanted to find out whether ordinary Americans would obey a morally wrong order from a person in authority.
How many volunteers were there?
40 males.
What ethical issue did this study present?
Deception- believed they were giving electric shocks.
What was the teacher’s role?
Administer a shock when the learner made a mistake.

15 volts - 450 volts

Participants gave high electrical shocks because they guessed the shocks weren’t real.

Lacked internal validity.

Blass (1999) and Burger (2009)

Only male Americans.

Participants harmed psychologically and deceived.
