Q

Describe the procedure of milgrams study?

A

Confederate was ‘learner’ in a supposed memory test
Ppts was the teacher
Was told to give electric shocks of increasing severity as learner kept making mistakes in a word association task
Small shock to “Mr.Wallace” who is in fact a confederate to ensure that they think the shocks are real
Ppts faced a shock generator and thought they were giving real electric shocks, four verbal prods were given.
Standardised responses from “Mr.Wallace” e.g. the learner bangs on wall at 300v in the verbal feedback condition “mr.wallace” makes certain comments such as “get me out”

That said supported by holfing field experiment
