What is Starks new economics of migration based on?
It followed Todaros theory, and is based on money and families.
What is relative deprivation?
A feeling that an individual has that comes from a lack in income compared to other individuals.
How does relative deprivation influence migration?
Due to a person feeling insecure around wealthier individuals, they may migrate to become more wealthy. This is said to be the driving force of migration (Stark)
What is the structuration theory?
It is the way that people are ranked throughout the society, and how groups of people create and keep their social systems going.
It also describes the rules that many people follow.
What does Lees Push and Pull model suggest?
That there are more push factors in a place of origin and there are more pull factors in a destination area.
What is the systems approach?
It doesn’t view migration through causes and effects, but as a circular, interdependent, and self modifying system.
