End of March 2014, around 24,000 seeking asylum
Widely percieved to be large group, in reality only 5% of migrants, barred from working, near zero gov support
Often held in immigration detention - Chief Inspector of Prisons said ‘a shocking lack of humanity’

Chambers - more global family networks, migrants support + maintain family relationships in other countries
And growing trade in surrogate motherhood, mail order brides + family personal care
ACPO Report- 17,000 of est 30,000 living on street prostitution migrants - 70% victims of trafficking
