Migration is the movement of people from one place to another, often with a change of address.
What is immigration?
People arriving in a country-I for in.
What is emigration?
people leaving a country-e for exit.
What is a refugee?
A person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, natural disaster etc
Push factors of migration?
War/danger Poverty Flooding Persecution Bad health care High crime rate
Pull factors of migration?
Better quality of life Freedom Greater wealth Safety Good education/health care Family members
Positive impacts of migration?
Better jobs and homes, learning new languages, make new friends.
Negative impacts of migration?
Racism, feeling excluded from the community, learning new language may be difficult.
Negative and positive impacts of a Syrian refugee.
Negative- they won’t know the language, racism.
Positive-away from danger, good education, good healthcare.
