Unilateral
Throbbing
Associated with nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and head movements and sound
Hemiplegia can last for hours

History of previous migraine
If no past history CT/MRI
Thrombophilia screen

Treatment of acute attack of migraine
A
Paracetamol/ codeine
Antiemetics
Sumatriptan - 5HT1 agonist (safe)

Prophylaxis for migraine
A
Avoid precipitate factors
Aspirin
Beta blockers - propranolol (no ass with IUGR)
Tricyclical antidepressant - amytriptiline
Calcium antagonists - verapamil
Serotonin antagonists if all else has failed
