Bell’s palsy usually appears in third trimester or early puerperium

Investigations for Bell’s palsy
A
BP
urinalysis
FBC
thrombophilia screen
CT/MRI

Once diagnosed - further management of Bell’s palsy
A
Reassurance
Monitor BP - sometimes associated with PET or PIH
A short course of steroids 40mg daily
May speed recovery but only if given within 24-72 hours from onset of symptoms
