Midterms Flashcards
a tool used to bend piping of different materials, such as copper and stainless steel, to form various angles and curves.
a tool to bend the pipe without any buckling, and with as little crimping and flattening as possible.
Pipe bender
Types of Pipe Bender
Manual Pipe Bender
Hydraulic Pipe Bender
a type of pipe bender operated by human force.
Manual Pipe Bender
two differently sized formers for the pipe to be bent around, which enable the tool to bend pipe of two different sizes.
Dual Pipe Bender
bends small sized piping no larger than 10mm (0.4″) in diameter.
Mini Pipe Bender
curved handle ends which are ergonomically designed to make pipe bending easier, as they require less strength.
Ergonomic Pipe Bender
used to bend longer or thicker piping which requires more force.
Free-standing Pipe bender
has a ratchet handle which slowly pushes upwards, pushing the pipe to bend between two blocks.
Ratchet Pipe bender
designed specifically for conduit piping.
Conduit pipe bender
a type of pipe bender that uses hydraulic pressure to bend pipes.
Hydraulic pipe bender
the pipe will wrap around as it is bent into shape.
Shoe former
exerts the pressure and form needed to bend the pipe into shape
Roller
exerts the majority of the force needed to bend the metal pipe
Handles
made by bending a piece of piping into a 90 degree or ‘L’ shape.
90 degree stub up bend
built on from an initial stub up bend, and looks like an elongated ‘U’ shape.
Back to back bend
