Use of device such as alliteration, rhyme, and assonance; meant to create pleasant experience to the ear

Secondary or suggestive meaning of the words, not literal
Connotation
Words may have the same denotation, but each has its own association
Denotation
Compares two seemingly unlike objects by using words “like” or “as”
