Midterm Exam (Quiz) Flashcards
_____________ Is provided by and exchanged between States and other parties, as aeronautical information products (standardized paper presentation, electronic media, or digital data sets).
Aeronautical data and aeronautical information
The AIP is divided into three parts
- GENERAL
- AERODROME
- EN-ROUTE
UTC abbreviation HN meaning
SUNSET TO SUNRISE.
The objective of aeronautical information services is to ensure the flow of aeronautical data and aeronautical information necessary for the safety, regularity and efficiency of civil aviation.

True
- What is the basic purpose of notams ?
NOTAMs are used to distribute time-critical aeronautical information to pilots and other airspace users. They are issued for a variety of reasons including changes to airspace restrictions, the availability of air navigation aids, and the status of aerodromes. NOTAMs can be used to provide information about temporary changes or longer-term construction that could impede the safety of air navigation, impact flight operations, and create additional operational considerations for pilots. In some cases, NOTAMs may be issued far in advance of the event to which they relate to give pilots and operators sufficient time to plan their flight accordingly.
- The maximum period of validity of the ASHTAM is
24 hrs
- The letter “N” for NOTAM, the letter “S” for SNOWTAM and the letter “V” for ASHTAM.
These alphanumeric codes are used in aviation communication to categorize and quickly identify different types of information that pilots and aviation personnel need to be aware of for safe and efficient flight operations
_________________ specifies that aeronautical information must be made available for any aerodrome or heliport normally used for international operations relative to the route stages originating at the aerodrome or heliport.
The ICAO Annex 15 (Aeronautical Information Services)
Define the preflight and post-flight information service.
Pre-flight information services permit the intended user to access the required aeronautical data and aeronautical information as part of the pre-flight briefing. This information usually includes aeronautical information, meteorological information and flight information.
Post-flight information services permit flight crews to submit additional aeronautical data and aeronautical information encountered or observed during their operation activity.
Both services provide information about the airspace, weather, and other factors that could affect the safety of the flight. However Preflight information service is provided before departure, while post-flight information service is provided after landing.
