Home health care
Home health care provides care in a patientβs home, usually elderly or disabled individuals
Hospice
Hospice is care provided to people who are very ill and have six months or less to live.
Government agencies
A few types of government agencies are VA hospitals, state psychiatric hospitals, state rehabilitation centers, and Medicare and Medicaid providers
Medicare and Medicaid
Medicare is a federal government program that provides healthcare to individuals over 65 or have a disability. Medicaid is a medical assistance program that pays for healthcare of people of low income, are physically disabled or blind, and children who qualify for public assistance.
Certification, registration, licensure
Certification is filling requirements in meeting standards of a particular career. Registration is being on a list of qualified personnel in a healthcare career. Licensure is the authority to work in an occupation.
Dental hygienist
A dental hygienist works under a dentist and performs examinations, cleans teeth, takes x-rays. They require no less than a bachelors degree
Physician assistant
A physician assistant works under the supervision of a doctor. They perform tests, physical examinations, and treat minor injuries. They require a bachelors degree in two years of a PA program
EMT-B
A EMT-B provides care for emergency injuries, bleeding, fractures, basic life support and require an EMT class
Nurse midwife
A nurse midwife is an advanced nurse who provides care for normal pregnancies. They require a masters or doctorate
Mortuary assistant
A mortuary assistant works under the supervision of a funeral director. They help assist in preparation of the ceremony
Factors of good health
Good health requires diet, eating well balanced meals and exercise to improve muscle tone. Also, getting enough sleep and good posture prevents fatigue. The last factor is to avoid the use of alcohol and drugs.
Teamwork
Teamwork is when many professionals with different education, ideas, interest work together for the benefit of the patient
Types of leaders
Democratic leaders believe in the participation of all individuals. A Laissez-faire leader is the complete opposite, they believe in non-interference of each other and have minimal rules. And autocratic leader maintains total rule and makes all the decisions
Stress
Stress is the bodyβs response to stimulus that requires an adjustment to change and the environment. Good stress makes a person be more organized, motivated, or make good judgment. Bed stress is harmful to feel depressed, exhausted or angry and can lead to substance abuse
FDA
The food and drug administration is a federal agency responsible for regulating food and drug products sold to the public
