Short acting CNS depressant - also anticonvulsant

A
- GCSE
- Sedation to maintain and facilitate intubation
- Sedation for synchronised cardioversion
- Sedation for transthoracic pacing
- Sedation for agitated patient
- Sedation for psychostimulant OD
- Alcohol withdrawal syndrome

Midaz - contraindications
A
- Known hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines

Midaz - precautions
A
- Reduces doses for elderly/frail, CCF, shock, or chronic renal failure
- Midaz is enhanced in the presence of narcotics and tranquillisers including alcohol
- Respiratory depression in COPD
- Myasthenia Gravis

A
- Depressed level of consciousness
- Respiratory depression
- Loss of airway control
- Hypotension
