Microscopy Flashcards
What is simple magnification?
A single lens used to form an enlarged image of an image
What is compound magnification?
Magnification occurs in two stages and the total magnification is the product of the magnification of the first lens and second lens
What is resolution?
The minimum distance that two objects can be separated by and still be seen a two separate objects
What is empty magnification?
Where an image has been magnified without an improvement
What is refraction?
Occurs as light passes from one medium to another when there is a difference in the index of refraction between two materials
What is refraction index?
Defined as the relative speed at which light moves through a material with respect to its speed in a vacuum
