Sensitivity 30%
What is sensitivity of microscopy for detection of candida in vagina (gram stain)
65%
What is sensitivity of microscopy for detection of candida in vagina (saline prep)
40-60%
What is sensitivity and specificity of microscopy for detection of syphilis from an ulcer?
Sensitivity- 79-86%
Specificity- 77-100%
Sensitivity?
The number of people with the disease who have a positive test
Specificity
The number of people who don’t have the disease who have a negative test
Why is there resistance with GC (isolates with decrease in antimicrobial sensitivity?)
May be due to plasmids- circular DNA - independent of chromosomes/chromosomal mutation
What is sampling suggested for GC if woman has had a hysterectomy?
no evidence on optimal sampling site.
Suggest considering urine and VVS NAAT with subsequent culture from that site if positive
