Place a thin sample of tissue (eg onion epidermis) onto the microscope slide .

add a few drops of suitable dye , eg iodine

Place a coverslip on top of tissue and place the full slide onto microscope stage

Light microscope phase 4 :

Use the objective lens with the lowest magnification FIRST . Then focus on the sample

Light microscope phase 5 :

Then increase magnification and Refocus to see different features of the cell
