Houses first lens system. Eye looks through this part. May be one or two, also called eyepiece
Ocular
Hold ocular on one end and nose piece at the other
Body tube
Provides support, and serves a s a handle for carrying
Arm
Holds the objectives and is able to rotate to change the objective lens
Nose piece
Series of tubes that house the second lens system: scanning, low power, high power, and oil.
Objectives
Larger knob used to make large adjustments. Should only be used when scanning the objective.
Coarse Adjustment Knob
Smaller knob used to make tiny adjustments
Fine Adjustment Knob
Found below the stage, and used to focus beam of light from below
Condenser
Aperture that controls the amount of light hitting object
Iris or Diaphragm
Lamp that provides light for illumination
Light Source
The bottom of the microscope
Base
Flat surface that supports the slides
Stage
Bracket which holds slide in place. Knobs control the horizontal and vertical movements of the slide in the mechanical stage
Mechanical Stage and Adjustment/Drive Knobs
Controls the level of light intensity
Light Control Rheostat
