Long black tube connected to eyepiece
Body tube
Usually contains 10x lens
Eyepiece
Supports the upper part of the microscope; serves as a handle
Arm
Used in combination with the eyepiece to provide a range of magnifications, usually from 40x to 400x
Objective Lenses
Supports the slides
Stage
Wheel or lever that adjusts amount of light that passes through hole in stage; provides proper contrast
Diaphragm
Sends light through the hole in the stage to illuminate specimen on slide.
Light
Usually one on each side of hole in stage; helps to hold slides in place
Stage Clip
Raises and lowers the stage or objective lenses
Coarse Adjustment Knob
Raises and lowers the stage or objective lenses a tiny distance for exact focusing.
Fine Adjustment Knob
Supports the microscope; serves as a handle.
Base
