Microcirculation Flashcards
1
Q
What are the three types of capillary?
A
Continuous - skin, lungs
Fenestrated - kidneys, choroid plexus, endocrine
Sinusoids - spleen, liver, bone marrow
2
Q
what are the three transport methods across capillaries?
A
Intracellular - lipophilic
Vesicular - In vesicles or vesicular channels
Transcellular - Small pores, fenestrated pores, sinusoid gaps
3
Q
What two things prevent fluid accumulation?
A
Lymphatic drainage
Vasomotion - contraction and relaxation of arteriles to reduce capillary pressure and allow reabsorption
4
Q
What can lead to oedema?
A
HF
RF
LF
Sepsis and increased capillary permeability
Filiriasis
