Not common amongst travellers
Shigella
Bloody diarrhoea
V + Abdo pain
48 - 72 hrs
S. aureus
severe vomiting
short incubation period
1 - 6 hrs
Campylobacter
A flu-like (early symptom) followed by abdo campy, pain, fever + diarrhoea (maybe bloody).
Mimics Appendicitis
Complication Guillian-barre syndrome (autoimmune attacks your nerves)
B. cereus
Two types of illness are seen:
Vomiting within 6 hours (due to rice)
Diarrhoea occurs after 6 hrs
Amoebiasis
Gradual onset of bloody diarrhoea, abdominal pain + tenderness (for several weeks).
