Q

What do viruses have covering the capsid? What are they called if they are not covering the capsid?

A

Some viruses have a lipid covering around the capsid, called the envelope. Those without the envelope, are called non-enveloped, or naked viruses are usually more virulent

Q

What’s the method of treatment for bacterial infection?

A

the vaccine is an injection of a harmless form of the virus. Harmless means the viruses weakened or dead.

Q

What happens in binary fission?

A

DNA copies go to opposite ends of the cell, invagination of the cell membrane occurs. synthesis of a new cell wall, the result is two genetically similar daughter cells

Q

What’s conjugation?

A

Bacteria’s version of sexual reproduction, a bridge or pili forms between two bacteria one with a plasmid And one without. The whole or partial plasmid is transferred from the donor to the recipient.

Q

What is endospore formation?

A

When conditions for growth or unfavourable bacteria will produce an endospore within the cell, and become dormant. endospores, are composed of a very thick outer coating surrounding the cell DNA and a portion of the cytoplasm when conditions become favorable. The endospore breaks open and becomes active.
