SARS
- Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.
- started in China, spread to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Canada.
- attributed to civet, coronavirus that mutated to humans
Swine flu
- H1N1.
- started in Mexico, spread worldwide. Attributed to triple-recombination between human and animal influenza viruses.
MERS
2012-2014. Middle East Respiratory Syndrome.
- started in Saudi Arabia, spread to neighboring countries. Attributed to a coronavirus that appeared in humans in 2011
Ebola
2014-2015. Sudden resurgence of Hemorrhagic fever in West Africa. Transmitted by bodily fluids.
