Environmental/Pharmacy Culture
Tests that can be performed with a Flocked Swab.
*RSV
*Influenza A/B
*Respiratory pathogen array
*4 Plex
*Sars-Cov-2
Tests that can be performed with an Carey-Blair medium C and S vial.
*Stool Culture
*GIP
Sample has to be to the fill line exact, no more, no less.
Tests that can be performed with an M6 Transport Media or Viral Transport Media or Universal Transport Media.
*Respiratory Pathogen Array
*4 Plex
*Sars-Cov-2
This comes in a larger container than the flocked swab, but is the swab as the flocked swab
Specimen Stability for E-Swab
*Must be Rejected if the anaerobic cultures come to the lab refrigerated.
*Neisseria Gonorrhoeae 24 hours and ONLY at room temperature.
Preferred to culture within 2 hours of collection. Would prefer room temperature specimen (48 Hours) but would accept refrigerated (4-8 Degrees Celsius).
Specimen Stability for Amies Single Swab
24 Hours at 5-25 Degrees Celsius (Room Temp or Refrigerated)
Specimen Stability for Amies Double Swab
24 Hours at 5-25 Degrees Celsius (Room Temp or Refrigerated)
Specimen Stability for Amies Charcoal Swab
*Aerobic Culture 48 Hours 5-25 Degrees Celsius room temp also refrigerated.
*Neisseria Gonorrhoeae and anaerobic culture 24 hours and ONLY at room temperature.
Specimen Stability for Flocked Swab/ Nasopharyngeal
*Refrigerated at 2-8 Degrees Celsius, If long delay before it gets to the lab, then store at -70 Degrees Celsius.
Specimen Stability for Carey- Blair medium C and S vial
Refrigerated at 2-8 Degrees Celsius for up to 96 hours.
Specimen Stability for M6 Transport Media, or Viral Transport Media, or Universal Transport Media
Refrigerated at 2-8 Degrees Celsius. If delayed 48 hours or more, should be stored at or below -70 Degrees Celsius.
This comes in a larger container than the flocked swab, but is the swab as the flocked swab.
