- Almost 50.000 hectareas.
- Mostly distilled into Brandy.
- Used as table grapes and raisins.
- Importation of juice to ferment is permitted. Hecho en Mexico on the label indicates Mexican grown grapes.

Regions and Grape Varieties in Mexico
A
- 90% of the quality wine production is from Baja California, on the pacific coast underneath California.
- Similar maritime influences as California.
- Cold Alaskan current produces morning fogs, similar to those in the San Francisco Bay area.
- Most vineyards are irrigated from underground aquifers, salination of water can be a problem.
- Most vineyards planted using grafted vines.
- Successful production of full bodied red from Petite Sirah ( Durif grapes) , Zinfandel and Bordeaux varieties.
