define ‘foot’
basic unit for describing a meter, usually consisting of stressed and unstressed syllables, they form one or other of the recognised metrical forms
define ‘iamb’ (iambic)
a metrical foot, consisting of two syllables; the first one unstressed, and the last one stressed
define what is meant by a ‘stressed’ or ‘unstressed’ syllable
a ‘stressed’ syllable is the part of a word that is said with greater emphasis compared to an ‘unstressed’ syllable, which is the part of a word that is said with less emphasis. a word is emphasised with pitch.
