Q

Features of continuous methods of training

A
  • Involves exercise at a moderate pace keeping the pulse at a constant level. A good method of
aerobic training, also good for burning body fat.
  • Used to improve fitness of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Overloading is done by
increasing the time, distance or speed of training.
  • Disadvantages: includes no skill work, can get boring.

Q

Features of aerobics methods of training

A
  • Involves exercises for every part of the body, working at a pace that keeps you in the aerobic
    training zone.
  • Improves aerobic fitness, the workout is done to music and is fun.
  • Disadvantages: jumping and stamping can jar bones and damage joints.

Q

Features of Fartlek methods of training

A
  • Developed in Sweden, the word means “speed play”.
  • Involves running while varying time, distance and effort, can be adapted for cycling, skiing and
    other activities.
  • Good for developing both aerobic and anaerobic fitness and for game training since it involves
    many changes of speed.
  • Disadvantages: Athlete needs to be self-motivated to work at maximum speed and not be
tempted to drop effort / slack off.

Q

Features of interval methods of training

A
  • Any training using alternating periods of very hard exercise and rest.
  • Good for both aerobic and anaerobic fitness, can be adapted to develop each type.
One can vary the time or distance, effort/intensity, type of activity, no. of exercise and rest
    periods per session.
  • The athlete needs to be highly motivated, however since there is a set pattern of work and rest it
is easy to tell is the performer is giving up on effort.

Q

Features of circuit methods of training

A
  • Performing a series of exercises or activities in a special order is called a circuit. It is mainly
used to develop general fitness, good for both aerobic and anaerobic.
-A circuit usually involves 6-10 exercises or activities which take place at stations, it may be
timed and can be adapted to use free weights or body weight.

Q

Features of cross training methods of training

A
  • This involves the use of other forms of exercise and different methods to maximise training.
  • Allows a wide range of development for the body and can help prevent overuse injuries by
    resting different body parts.
  • Develops general fitness.

Q

Features of weight training methods of training ( wait is it supposed to be what are the methods of training for weight training?) whatever

A
  • Involves the shifting of weight to increase the strength of muscles using a series of repetitions
and sets. Weights are used as a form of resistance training.
  • By gradually increasing the weight lifted we can overload our muscles safely over a period of
    time.
  • Used to improve aerobic (endurance) or anaerobic (strength) fitness.

Q

Features of plyometric methods of training

A
  • A series of explosive movements designed to improve muscular power (explosive strength).
Movements include bounds, hops, leaps, skips, press ups with claps. Puts great stress on the
muscles and joints therefore warm up is essential.

Q

Features of flexibility methods of training

A
  • Involves using a series of exercises to improve flexibility by stretching and moving the joint
just beyond its point of resistance.
  • There is need to warm up properly and stay warm while stretching.
  • Improves sporting performance and reduces joint injury.
